Resources and Ideas for April Fools' Day

Be sure to visit the main page for April Fools' Day first!

PBL21 - Design a project-based curriculum from the overall theme of Fools and Jesters.

Think of the possibilities for a final product - including many other products along the way:

*  Film Festival (and invite the community).  Students love videography and filmmaking, and doing so requires them to learn very deeply, from research on their chosen topic to the fine details of filming, editing, lighting, sound, and then marketing . . .

*  Renaissance Festival (with several sections, each representing different cultures or periods of history).

*  Madrigal Dinner - "A Madrigal Dinner is a 21st century re-creation of the Renaissance feasts held in the great baronial halls throughout England during the twelve days of Christmas."  Take this idea to the next level and make it global, encompassing many cultures and time periods.

* Fools and Jesters - a global, collaborative classrooms project - team up with classrooms in different countries, each researching the role of fools and jesters in their cultures and history!  Then teach each other, and create a final product showcasing the common threads as well as the contrasting themes and customs.

*  How about connecting the project to an examination of fools and jesters in society today!  From circus clowns to Mardi Gras, to late night television and movies.
